And it can offer a reduction on water bills to any Severn Trent customer who has a household income below £18,278 per year.
If you’re a household with a child dependent, then you may be eligible for an increase in income allowance. So it’s still worth applying for the Big Difference Scheme if you take home a little bit more than £18,278.
How much can I save with the Severn Trent Water social tariff?
With the Big Difference Scheme, you can get a reduction of up to 90% off of the average Severn Trent water bill. When you apply to join the scheme, Severn Trent Water will assess your income. The amount of support you receive will depend on the outcome of your assessment.
If you are accepted to join the Big Difference Scheme, you’ll get a new payment plan for your water. The payment plan is tailored specifically to you and your circumstances. If you have been struggling o pay your water bill in the past, then the Big Difference Scheme will be created to help you clear any arrears on your account.
The Big Difference scheme by Severn Trent water lasts for 12 months at a time. At the end of each year, you will have to reapply. Your income will need to be assessed again to work out whether you are still eligible for the reduction.
How do I apply for the Big Difference Scheme?
Applying for the Severn Trent Water social tariff is easy. You can apply online or over the phone. Before applying you will need the following information handy. Severn Trent Water will need this information in order to make their assessment on your circumstances:
- Payslips form the last three months
- Benefit award letters from the Department of Work and Pensions
